Generate Dummy Data for Testing Your Software

Target Integration deals with a lot of CRM applications like vTiger, CiviCRM etc and every now and then we need to test either a new CRM addon or a custom CRM Application for a business. In order to make sure that we don’t do experiments with real user data we use a free script made available by generatedata.com

Generatedata.com allows us to generate data on set parameters e.g. we can generate data of individuals with First Name, Last Name, Company Name, Address, City, Country, Email Address and Phone Numbers fairly quickly.

It is quite interesting how the script generates phone numbers. We can define that we need Irish phone numbers as 353 (Country COde) xx (County COde) and xxx xxxx (Phone Number) and all the information is generated for us in the requested format.

Once the contact list is generated it can be uploaded to our CRM applications for rigorous testing so that our customers get a bug free solution.

These lists don’t have any real email addresses and there is no possibility of any data leak etc.
