Connected job management and field operations for Pier UK
How Target Integration transformed an inherited Zoho environment into a connected operational platform supporting 10,000+ jobs and more than 80 field operators.
Speak to an expertAbout the client
Pier UK operates in the vacuum excavation sector, providing specialist services that use non-destructive excavation techniques around underground utilities and infrastructure.
Its operation requires close coordination between customer accounts, Sales, the Hire Desk, vehicles, field operators and Finance. With multiple teams involved from quotation through to job completion and invoicing, reliable information flow is essential.
The challenge
Target Integration inherited an existing Zoho environment originally developed by another provider. Several important processes were already in place, but the wider ecosystem was not working together as reliably as Pier UK needed:
- HR onboarding: the employee onboarding workflow was not working as expected and needed to be redesigned.
- Disconnected processes: information was not flowing seamlessly from CRM and Sales Orders into the custom application used by the Hire Desk.
- Resource planning: the Hire Desk needed better visibility of bookings, operator availability and vehicle assignments.
- Manual administration: teams were relying on unnecessary intervention and repeated data entry as jobs moved through the process.
- Field communication: operators needed a reliable mobile application for receiving and managing job information.
The solution
Rather than replacing Pier UK’s existing investment, Target Integration assessed the environment, resolved problem areas and progressively developed the platform around the way the business operates. Zoho CRM, Creator, Books, People and Flow now work together to connect sales, bookings, scheduling, field operations, HR and invoicing.
The outcome
- More than 10,000 bookings and jobs processed through the platform.
- More than 80 operators currently using the mobile application.
- Faster and more structured scheduling for the Hire Desk.
- Less duplicate data entry between CRM, bookings and operational systems.
- Better communication between Sales, the Hire Desk and field operators.
- Reduced manual intervention through automated workflows and blueprints.
- Better visibility of jobs, resources and operator availability.
- A more consistent process from customer quotation through to completed job and invoice.
Where else this approach works
The same combination of CRM, scheduling, mobile workforce management and automation applies wherever businesses need to coordinate customers, jobs, people and resources in the field.
Why this matters for field service businesses
Field service businesses often rely on Sales, operations, mobile teams and Finance to move the same job through several different stages. When those stages depend on disconnected systems, manual handovers or duplicate data entry, delays and errors quickly build up.
Pier UK’s project shows how Target Integration can improve an existing business platform rather than replacing it — connecting CRM, scheduling, mobile operations and invoicing into a process that is easier to manage and capable of supporting thousands of jobs.
